Tulsa - GEORGE L. PACE, JR., 67, of Tulsa, Okla., died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, after an extended illness.
Service is at 4 p.m. Thursday in The Church of the Resurrection in Tulsa. Arrangements are under direction of Stanleys Funeral Service in Tulsa.
George was born on Aug. 12, 1941, to Mildred and George L. Pace Sr., a pioneer oil and gas family of Duncan. He graduated from Duncan High School in 1960 and married Sharon Kelly in 1963. George graduated from the University of Oklahoma Law School in 1967. He practiced law in Oklahoma City as a public defender, district attorney, trial examiner for the Corporation Commission, and as an oil and gas title examiner and landman for private firms and for his family business, Pace Petroleum Company.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Pace of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Kirsten and Bret Unterschuetz of Tulsa; sister, Katherine Pace Drummond of Little Rock, Ark.; and sister and brother-in-law, Nancy Pace Litsch and Joe Litsch of Duncan. George is blessed with stepdaughters and stepson, Kristen Fouke and Erin and Peter Stabnick; along with five delightful grand-children, Henry, John, Kathleen, Isaac and Brice, all of Tulsa. George is remembered by his nieces and nephews, Kevin, Sean, Mary and Michael McCarthy, and Emily Kelly Petree and Jackson and Justin Kelly.
George was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon Kelly Pace; and his precious daughter, Kelly Anne.
George was a treasured son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend.
He loved Oklahoma, its oil and gas history, fishing, and his family and friends. George's family is grateful to all who helped with his recent illness.
