Carl is survived by his adored and cherished daughter, Destany Tange; beloved fiancee, Stella Davies; loving parents, Craig Backstrom and Susan Bailey; devoted grandparents, Clarence Backstrom and Joyce Backstrom; favorite sister, Sheri Krahn, Lori Houchin and Cyndi Backstrom; and the tippy tas!
Carl Backstrom was an internet savvy guru. He was the principal member of technical staff for the past six years at Oracle Corporation and regarded as one of four experts in the world in Apex technology. Carl graduated from San Francisco State University with a bachelors in arts and geography.

Two Las Vegas men were killed and one man was injured in a single vehicle rollover crash that occurred at about 1 a.m. Sunday on State Route 157 near Mount Charleston Lodge.
The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, in which the driver apparently lost control of a Jeep Cherokee. The jeep rolled and came to rest on its roof in a large tree, investigators said.
The Clark County coroner's office said 35-year-old Carl Backstrom, who suffered a broken neck, died at 2:53 a.m. Sunday after being taken from the scene to University Medical Center, the coroner's office said.
The driver, Kenneth Leigh Hovey Jr., 34, suffered multiple blunt force trauma injuries and was pronounced dead at 4:05 a.m. Sunday at the scene, according to the coroner's office.
Another passenger, who has not yet been identified, is in critical condition, state troopers said.
