Urbana Citizen - April 21, 1898
Ann Virginia Wilson, Wife of WW Wilson, the daughter of Aaron and Tamzon Russell, was born in Concord Township, March 18, 1845.
There were 9 children in the family, Virginia being the eight. She was raised by christians parents and early taught to reverence the christian religion. She was from infancy regular in her attendance of Sabbath school and the preaching service of the church. In early life she gave her heart to the Savior and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church at Concord and lived an earnest christian life till the day of her death. While she was not demostrative in her religious devotion she was always ready for every good word and work, being regularly in the prayer meeting and the public congregation and continually in season, out of season ready with heart and hand to assist in all the social benevolent and spiritual work of the church.
She was united with WW Wilson in marriage Oct 22, 1868. Soon after their marriage they commenced housekeeping in Urbana and she transferred her membership to the Second Methodist Episcopal Church. They at once set up the family altar in their home and its hallowed fires never ceased to burn during this union. They had born to them four children, one of whom died in infancy, those living are William Russell, Carrie Virginia, and Frank Clifton, all of whom are at home. Mrs Wilson was a prudent and careful Christian mother, training her children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord and had her heart cheered by their union with the church of her choice in their childhood. This was a happy christian home where love reigned supreme. This could not have been otherwise since even a casual observer could see that two lives could not be more perfectly matched on earth than were the lives of this father and mother. It was a hospitable home where friends, ministers and christian workers were always welcome.
This pleasant home circle was invaded and broken by the fell destroyer death when the wife and mother passed from labor to reward on the 19th inst, after a severe surgical operation at Columbus, OH. When in the immediate presense of death Mrs Wilson remarked to her husband "How blessed it is to have lived a Christian life and coming to a time like this have nothing to fear." In anticipation of her death, she gave to her husband full direction as to her funeral and selected the hymns to be sung. She was a kind considerate neighbor and was beloved by everyone. Those who knew her best assert that she had not an enemy in the world. She leaves an honored, vacant place in the church and a sorrowing and deeply bereaved family. One by one the members of our church are being transplanted from the church militant to the church triumphant. May the church, the community and the bereaved family bow submissively to the divine will.

Champaign Democrat - April 28, 1898
Mrs WW Wilson died at Columbus Tuesday of last week and the remains were brought to Urbana the same evening. Mrs Wilson was a good Christian woman and her loss will be deeply felt in this community. She was a member of Grace ME Church. The deceased leaves a husband WW Wilson, cashier of the Citizens National Bank, two sons Will and Frank and one daughter Carrie.
