Attended Hopkinson School in Boston. He received his Bachelors of Science degree, in General Science, at Harvard in 1902. While at Harvard, he played varsity baseball and football.
He married at the Church of Our Redeemer in Lexington, Massachusetts on June 1, 1907, with Reverend William H.P. Hatch officiating.
He at one time held residence at Canton Avenue and Adams Street in Milton and had a summer residence on Hatherly Road in Scituate.
He had worked in the banking business briefly for E.C. Stanwood and Company in Boston and had worked in the cotton business for E.A. Shaw and Company in Boston. Continuing in the business involving the manufacturing of cotton goods, Mr. Wood became treasurer in the office of the Continental Mills at 31 Bedford Street in Boston with mills along the Androscoggin River at Lewiston, Maine.
Vice-Commodore of the Scituate Harbor Yacht Club.
Wood Avenue, off Hatherly Road and near Egypt Beach in Scituate, is named in his honor.
He enjoyed playing golf, tennis, and squash.
Member of the Exchange Club, Harvard Club, and Episcopalian Club in Boston; Milton Club; Scituate Yacht Club; Cohasset Golf Club; and the Hoosic-Whisick Club in Ponkapoag.
