SYLVESTER DETWlLER, died at
8:00 p. m. Sunday, July 29, at the
home of his daughter, Mrs. Howard
Gillenwater, Akron, Ohio.
Born' May 24, 1876 in Strongs,
town, Pa., the deceased, a farmer,
had lived all his life in that vicinity
until going to Akron seven
months ago.
Husband of the late Pearl Stewart
Detwiler, he leaves nine sons: Alfred
James, Alverda; Edward, Strongstown;
Major Harry with the U. S.
Marines, stationed at Arlington,
Va.; Mack, Alverda; Daniel, Strongstown;
Wilbert, Wessie, Charles and
Robert, all of Akron, Ohio. One son,
Wilmer, died in 1925.
Seven daughters also survive;
Mable, wife of Clarence Adams;
Hazel, wife of Howard Gillenwater,
both of Akron, Ohio; Elda, wife of
Lincoln Gibson, Cherry Tree, Pa.;
Vada, wife of Jesse Hill; Ethel, wife
of Joseph Werner, both of Akron;
Mary, wife of Stephen Kaza, of
Strongstown, and Betty, wife of Norman
Hill of Akron. There are 52 grandchildren and
eight great grandchildren .
Friends will be received at the
home of his son, Daniel in Strongstown
after 7:30 p. m. on Monday.
Services will be held in Strongstown
Methodist Church Wednesday,
August 1, at 2:00 p. m. (DST).
The Rev. John Schrecengost will
officiate. Interment will be in the
Pineland Cemetery, Strongstown.
Friends may pay respect at the
church on Wednesday one hour
prior to services.
Robinson's, Indiana, are in charge
of services.
