A celebration of life service for Wilma Leola Jordan will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at First Baptist Church in Durant with Rev. James Robinson officiating. Mrs. Jordan died Wednesday Oct. 29, 2008, at her home in Durant, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Jordan was born in Zoe, Oklahoma, on June 23, 1915, to Chester Loveland and Ida (Miller) Emerson. Mrs. Jordan was a school teacher, a bookkeeper in the family business and a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She was active in the First Baptist Church at Caddo, Oklahoma for many years where she taught the ladies Sunday School Class. She moved to Durant, Oklahoma, and became active in the First Baptist Church. She loved her Sunday School Class and Prayer Group and attended faithfully until her last illness. While homebound she enjoyed watching the church services on television.

Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 60 years, William Louis Jordan on Aug. 10, 1997; brothers Frank, Henry and Dolan Emerson; sisters Elsie Hughey and Alice Lewis; son-in-law Dr. Leroy Engles; and granddaughter, Tracy Jordan.

Survivors include daughters, Jeanette Engles, widow of Dr. Leroy Engles, of Durant, Oklahoma, Sandra Spoon and husband Mickey of Amarillo, Texas; son, Stanley Jordan and wife Cindy of Lewisville, Texas; brother, Jerry Emerson and wife Jolene; brother-in-law, Jerry Jordan and wife Joyce; sisters-in-law, Wilma Emerson and Lucille Shumpert; granddaughters Susan Engles, Laura Jones, Dr. Laura Horton and husband Stan, Kim Holmes and husband Ronnie, Diane Engles and husband Al Koscielney, Roni McDaniel and husband Kendall, Katy Morris and husband Jack; grandsons, Leroy Engles and wife Camilla, Craig Engles, Mitchell Jordan and wife Charlsie, Shawn Spoon and wife Shannon, Scott Spoon and wife Lana; great grandchildren, Trevor Engles, Jared Horton, Isabelle Engles, Lawson Engles, Cassie Morris, Madelyn Morris, Jackson Morris, Tony Holmes and wife Misty, Raymond Holmes, Nathan Holmes, LeAnna Holmes, Garrick Spoon, Colton Spoon, Tyler Spoon, Kaley Spoon; great great grandson, Tony Holmes, Jr. and many nieces and nephews.

Interment will be at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, Oklahoma. Pallbearers are Leroy Engles, Craig Engles, Mitchell Jordan, Al Koscielney, Jack Morris, Kendall McDaniel, Ronnie Holmes and Jay Chatham.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Friday at 1103 Ada Street in Durant. The family request in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church of Durant or to the American Heart Association.
