Major League Baseball Player. Nicknamed "Puddin' Head", he started his major league career with the Phillies in 1947 and became the team's starting third baseman. His most productive season came as a member of the 1950 Phillies "Whiz Kids" National League champion team, when he posted career-highs with 25 home runs, 88 RBIs, 163 hits, and led the league in games played 157. In 15-seasons, he played with the Phillies, Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Reds and was selected to the 1950, 1951, All-Star teams. He played in 1691 games with 1502 hits, 190 homeruns, 812 RBIs and a career .258 batting average.
