LARS CHRISTIAN CHRISTENSEN (77) b. Jan. 5, 1859 Nørre Sundby Sogn, Kaer Herred, Aalborg Amt, DK the youngest of six children (Ane Marie, Mariane, Anders, Lars (first Lars) Christian, Sören Christensen, Lars (2nd Lars) Christian)born to Christian Andersen and Ane Larsdatter.

His father was a Ferry-rower at the time of Lars' birth. He rowed Ferrys between Nørre Sundby and Aalborg until later that same year in 1865 when they opened the first bridge.

Lars was christened March 27,1859 in Nørre Sundby Kirke, Kaer Herred, Aalborg Amt.

His maternal grandparents were Lars Larsen and Anne Thomasdatter.

His paternal grandparents were Anders Christensen Smed and Ane Marie Jensdatter.

His oldest brother, Anders Christensen, emigrated to South Dakota first. In March of 1888, Lars emigrated to Parker, Turner Co. SD two years before his bride to be. He learned English from a the young son of parents who hired him to work on their farm when he first arrived. He applied for U.S. citizenship in Sept. 1, 1899 and became a U.S. Citizen in April 1904 in Turner County, SD.

On Dec. 23, 1889 he married Loise Lisette Dorthea Augusta Walther after she arrived via boat in NYC. Loise changed her first name to Louise after she arrived in the United States. Loise was b. Jan. 27, 1859 in Sønder Vinge sogn, Viborg amt, Denmark, the oldest of five children born to Herman Gustav Theodor Walther and Augusta Margarethe Behrens.

Lars and Louise lived in Hurley, South Dakota until moving to North Dakota in 1900, where they filed on a homestead 8 miles south of Kenmare in Baden Township, where the family lived for 27 years. This is where their last two children, Mildred and Alfred, were born.

Lars and Louise then moved into the town of Kenmare where they lived for 10 years near their daughter, Anna "Anne" Nelsen. After Lars died, Helen and Ernest Nelson moved in with Louise to take care of her until she died. Lars and Louisa were charter members of Our Savior Lutherans Church, Kenmare, ND. Their children were baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Lars died of cancer on Aug. 27, 1936. He and Louise had seven children.
