FUNERAL OF MRS. FOSGATE HELD YESTERDAY AFTERNOON

Many Relatives and Friends Followed Remains to Oakdale.

Earth has received back again the body of Mrs. Maria Alves Fosgate, and it now rests beneath a flower covered mound in Oakdale cemetery. The funeral was held at 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon from the late residence, 411 Orange street, Rev. Dr. William H. Milton, rector of St. James church, conducting the final rites over the remains of the beloved lady.
A large concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives followed the remains from the residence to the cemetery and the floral tributes were many and beautiful, testifying to the great esteem in which Mrs. Fosgate was held in the city.
The pall bearers were Messrs. Charles E. Taylor, James F. Seares, W. B. Thorp and three grand nephews of Mrs. Fosgate, Messrs. Thomas W. Davis, Esq., Junius Davis, Esq., and Platt Davis.
Mrs. Fosgate was the daughter of the late Major and Mrs. John W. Walker, of Wilmington, and the widow of Mr. Frederick Fosgate. She was also a granddaughter of the late Gen. James Owen Davis, of Fayetteville, an officer of renown in the old colonial days.
Surviving Mrs. Fosgate are one daughter, Mrs. J. E. Reinburg, who now lives near Philadelphia, where her husband, Capt. J. E. Reinburg, of the United States navy, is stationed; three grandchlldren.Lleut. J. E. Reinburg, Jr.. U. S. N., Lieut. W. H. W. Reinburg, U. S. A., and Miss Dorothea Reinburg, and the following nieces and nephews: Miss Anna P. Bolles, Judge Piatt D. Walker, of Raleigh; Mr. V. B. Walker, of Hong Kong, China; Messrs. John W. Bolles. R. H. Cowan, James H. Cowan, Mrs. Alice Everett, Miss Maria Walker, Mrs. Nixon Davis and Miss Ulda Cox. Mrs. Fosgate died at her home early Friday morning.
