Funeral services were incomplete this morning for William Hershman, 84, who died of complications at his home near Tacy, eight miles southeast of Philippi after being ill some days.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Susan Hershman; three sons, L. L. Hershman, Delbert Hershman, and Frank Hershman; and one daughter, Mrs. Dora Ridgeway.
Mr. Hershman was a descendant of one of the first settlers in the county, his parents having come from Germany years ago, and he has been instrumental in the building up of the farm land in this section of the county. He was well known throughout the county and highly respected by all.

William was married Dec. 25, 1873 to Susan Melvina Trimble daughter of Andrew Trimble and Barbara Marple Trimble. William was the son of Dr. Abraham Hershman and Mary A. Sager Hershman.
