Died, at Philadelphia, Pa., Dec. 30, 1909, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William O. Thompson, Mrs. Marcia E. Pierce, formerly of this city. Accompanied by her daughter, the remains arrived in this city last evening and brief funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock this morning in the chapel at Oak Ridge cemetery.

Mrs. Pierce was the wife of Rev. Nehemiah Pierce, former pastor of First Baptist church in this city, which was then located at Seventh and Adams streets. He was pastor of the church from 1870 until Mar. 25, 1873, when he died after a protracted illness. He was highly esteemed as a faithful and devoted minister of the gospel. His burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery, where a beautiful marble monument was in due time erected to his memory and since faithfully cared for by members of the church to which he ministered, the Central Baptist church.

Interment will be made upon the family lot in Oak Ridge cemetery.
