COMMUNICATION. On Saturday last, were interred the remains of Capt. LEVI ADAMS, of this town [Amherst, NH], aged 41, whose death was occasioned by a wound in his bowels from the kick of a horse the Thursday preceding. There are few instances of mortality more alarming or more calamitous than the present. A man, in the meridian of life, and in the full tide of his usefulness, is deprived of existence by an accident to which almost every man is daily exposed. An affectionate wife and six helpless children are suddenly, and almost without notice, deprived of their earthly support and guide, at a time when they most needed, and had the most reason to confide in the life, activity and kindness of a husband and father. Mr. Adams had been an inhabitant of this town but a few years; but during his residence had acquired an unusual portion of confidence and esteem. Enquiry confirms the opinion that he was justly entitled to both. A numerous and respectable collection at his funeral, notwithstanding the unfavorable weather, witnessed the interest which has taken his life, and how much his loss is deplored. The officers and members of the Benevolent Lodge attended the funeral; and Mr. Adams having intimated it as his wish, and being a worthy Brother, was interred under the honors of Masonry.
