VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. Seaman Robert K. Ransom, 21, of 618 W. Seventh St., Wilmington, Del., died Monday in Virginia Beach, after a traffic accident.
Mr. Ransom was eastbound on Shore Drive, near the main gate of Fort Storey, when he lost control of his vehicle. The Virginia Beach police department said Ransom's vehicle skidded sideways across the grassy median, flipped over and crossed both westbound lanes before landing upside down on the westbound shoulder. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
He joined the Navy in 1986 and was stationed at Norfolk. He was a 1986 graduate of Delcastle Technical High School.
He is survived by his parents, Charles and Audrey Ransom, two brothers, his twin, Roland and Charles; two sisters, Shree Ransom and Corvell Ransom and his paternal grandparents, Robert and Savannah Ransom, all of Wilmington.
Services will be at 6 p.m. Sunday in Congo Funeral Home, 201 N. Gray Ave., Wilmington, where friends may call after 4. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, 33rd and Market streets, Wilmington.
