Rebecca Turnidge, was born in LaFayette County, Missouri on December 15, 1828 and was united in marriage to Thomas H. Loyd on October 17th 1843. To this union were born nine children, eight boys and one girl, of whom four sons and the daughter are left to mourn her departure, with 29 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren and her many friends. She was converted and united with the Baptist Church more than 60 years ago. The past few years she has been a member of the M.E. Church and was true to her profession to the end of her life, which came July 7th, 1910, at Pond Creek, Oklahoma, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mullican. Mr. Mullican accompanied the remains to Gretna where the funeral services were held July 9th and the remains were interred in the Pleasant View Cemetery beside her husband, who died in 1878. She was 81 years and 6 months old.
