Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Funeral Home.
Sammie was born Saturday, April 4, 1914. She was the first ticket office manager at the opening of Casa Manana Theatre, circa 1957. She worked part time as a lead ticket agent for the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo and Ice Capades from 1945 through 1967. She then retired in 1989, from her full-time position at Farm and Home Savings and Loan Association after 27 plus years of service as a PBX operator. Since her retirement, she continually resided in her home of 48 years on the west side of Fort Worth. This unique woman prayed for and was an unlimited source of encouragement and support for her children and grandchildren. She was a selfless, tireless lover of God and lover of people. Her childlike faith led her to the lord at an early age and served to fuel her eternal optimism, hopefulness and energy.
"Blessed in the sight of the Lord is the death of his Saints" (Psalm 116:15).
Sammie was preceded in death by a daughter, Sammie Rae Adams; husbands, Charles Ray Adams and Joe Junior Bellis; and granddaughter, Leslie Caprice Dearing.
Survivors: Daughter, Nancy Diane and husband, Darace J. Hutchens; son, John Quincy and wife, Jennifer L. Adams; grandchildren, Lellan Curt Dearing, Christin Danielle Adams, Olivia Elizabeth Adams, Danya Powell, Mark Hutchens and Angela Nevling; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Nina Hardin; several nieces and nephews; and longtime caregiver, Felicia Coston. These and others are among the many who loved Sammie deeply and will greatly miss her presence.
