HUEY LEE "BUBBA" BURKETT
1929-2008

Huey Lee "Bubba" Burkett, age 78 of Pensacola, died Thursday, October 30, 2008 in a local nursing home. Mr. Burkett attended Godwin Pentecostal Church. He was a former youth baseball coach, the Pensacola Men's League and the Pensacola Cardinals at the University of West Florida. He was a retired over the road truck driver and diesel mechanic.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Lucille Burkett; son & daughter-in-law, Peck & Trenia Burkett; a special friend, Eddie Pitman; two grandsons, B.J. Burkett (Kelly) and Brett Burkett; granddaughter, Emily Burkett; two sisters, Dorothy Montgomery and Jean Juel; special niece & nephew, Gerald & Brenda Sorrells; numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2008 at FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 100 Beverly Pkwy with Sister Hazel Godwin officiating.
Interment will follow in Whitmire Cemetery. Pallbearers will be B. J. and Brett Burkett, Eddie Pitman, Karl Murphy, Bobby Gregory and Kyle Ross. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Pitman, Harvey Godwin, Neal Shenberger, Henry Harrison, Bret Shiflett, Charlie Warner, and Josh Godwin.
The family will receive friends at Faith Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 2.
The family extends a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Specialty Care Center.
