CIVIL WAR VETERAN DIES AT AGE OF 83

John Addison, 83 years old, died Sunday afternoon, Jan. 15, at 4:30 o'clock, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nettie Moore, near Lorane. He was a resident of 2021 Villard street, Eugene.

Born in Newton Parish, Cambridgeshire, England, Mr. Addison had lived in this country for 75 years, 16 of which he has resided in Eugene. He was a member of the Methodist church, Masonic lodge, the G.A.R., and served during the civil war with company F, 64th infantry, Illinois. He wife died Feb. 18, 1919.

Survivors include 10 children: Edmund S. Addison, Lorane; Arthur D. Addison, Roseburg; Dell H. Addison, Lorane; Mrs. Pearl Wentworth, Eugene; Mrs. Ella Schneider, Lorane; Blaine C. Addison, Lorane; Mrs. Lucile Bolles, Portland; Mrs. Sadie Tripp, Eugene; Mrs. Nettie Moore, Lorane; Mrs. Jessie Moore, Idaho Falls, Idaho. Two brothers also survive: Edmund T. Addison, Eugene, and Joseph Addison, Ashkum, Ill. There are 27 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Branstetter chapel at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17, conducted by Dr. E.V. Stivers, pastor of the First Christian church. Interment will be in the Masonic cemetery.
