Emma was Clarence's first wife. Emma had previously married a Mr. Manton. Emma and Clarence were married September 6, 1894 in Sheldon (Iroquois County), Illinois. They had at least three children all dying prior to 1910. Emma had major surgery in December 1933; from which she never recovered, passing away in June of 1934.
