Deacon Wade White, Jr., a faithful member of Mount Hopewell Baptist Church, was born to the union of Wade, Sr. (son of Henry and Tabitha White) and Emma Bonner-White. His maternal grandmother was Jennie Bonner and her mother was Mary Ellen Todd (b. 4 Aug. 1835, Tennessee ~ d. 3 Mar. 1936, Fayetteville, Lincoln, Tennessee ~ father's name Wade Todd ~ mother's name Mary Ellen Todd: Tennessee, Deaths & Burials Index). (1930 U.S. Census,Fayetteville, Tenn.) He enlisted in the U.S. Army, at Camp Forrest, on 4 Nov. 1943. He earned the Army rank of TEC4 and served his country honorably. During that time, his civilian occupation was listed as automobile serviceman (source: U.S. World War II Army Enlistment Records, 1938-1946). Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Betty Rutherford-White; daughter, Sherri (Jeff) Claybrooks; son, Phil Marshall; grandchildren, Philip, Mario, Jeffrey, Jermario and Cory; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise Redman, Elizabeth Harber, Dorothy Todd, Irene Smith and Emma Marshall and a host of relatives, and friends.
