Elizabeth ‘Betty' Helen Driscoll

Elizabeth "Betty" Helen Driscoll of Warren died Aug. 16, 2008, after a two-year battle with cancer. She was 77.

Elizabeth Helen Schlosser was born April 23, 1931, and raised in Burt, N.D.

In the 1950s she moved to the West Coast, residing in Portland and Long Beach, Calif.

She married James Holmes in 1958, and had a daughter Michelle. Two years later the couple divorced, and she moved to Santa Rosa, Calif.

In the late 1960s she relocated to Columbia County, and worked as a waitress and bartender.

One Sept. 13, 1980, she married Gordon Driscoll at St. Frederic Catholic Church in St. Helens. The couple settled in Warren.

With her husband, she was involved in catering and volunteer work at St. Frederic and the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Scappoose, as well as the St. Helens Senior Center.

A member of the Germans from Russia Society, her hobbies included spending time with her family and friends, fishing, camping, cooking, and playing cards.

She is survived by her husband of 27 years Gordon Driscoll of Warren; daughter Michelle Titius, and granddaughter Elizabeth Titius, both of Corona, Calif.; and brother Raymond Messer of Derby, Kan.

Recitation of the rosary will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at St. Frederic Catholic Church in St. Helens. A funeral mass will follow at 11 a.m.

Committal service will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Legacy Hopewell House in Portland, or to the American Cancer Society
