Oral Lester "Dick" Kennemer was the son of Gabriel Martin Kennemer and Jessie Harper, natives and residents of Springfield, Missouri. Dick was raised in Springfield. He had two half-sisters, Helen and Martha Kennemer and a half-brother, James Kennemer from his father's second marriage.

Dick married Evelyn Eoff, the daughter of James Otis Eoff and Clyde Bly Ozier, natives of Boone County, Arkansas. Dick and Evelyn were married October 19, 1937 in Springfield. They were the parents of Betty Lou Kennemer born and died March 27, 1940. Dick was employed as a guard with the United States Department of Justice. He died at the age of thirty-five years.
