He was born on November 16, 1929 in Milford, Delaware, son of the late John and Lola Anderson. On July 3, 1954 he married the former Marian Masten and resided in Wilmington, DE.
Mr. Anderson was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II. He was a member of the United States Trotting Association and a leading trainer and driver of standard bred horses for over 45 years. During his final ten years in the harness racing industry, he was a starting judge at Brandywine, Liberty Bell, Dover Downs, Delmarva Downes and Harrington Raceways. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved animals.
He is survived by his wife Marian Anderson, a daughter Brenda Keeley and son-in-law John of Boothwyn, PA, a son Robert E. Anderson, Jr. and daughter-in-law Judy of Queenstown, MD and three grandchildren Norman Maupin, John Keeley III and Robert J. Anderson
