Noah Bell lived with his parents in San Jose and worked as the manager of Castle's Fruit Packinghouse. He disappeared three weeks before his death, and considerable mystery surrounded his disappearance, especially after the police found a bicycle that belonged to him. It turned out that Noah had been staying in a room at the New York Exchange Hotel. He rarely left the room and seemed to be in feeble health. The proprietor of the hotel found him dead in a chair in his room on Nov. 6, 1907. The coroner determined that his death was the result of congestion of the liver and heart failure. (San Jose Mercury, Nov. 7, 1907.)
