Samuel Bogle was born on 24 May 1765 at now Juniata Co., Walker Twnshp, in 1765 was known as Fermanaugh Township, Cumberland Co., PA, son of Joseph Bogle, Sr. and jean Jane McIntire Bogle. His place of birth is given as PA in the East Tennessee History. Eusebia Presbyterian Church and Cemetery is located about 12 mi. NE of Maryville on US 411.
Cemetery book gives his birth as May 17, 1765. He was Presbyterian. He witnessed the Will of Joseph Bogle on 14 Dec 1788 South of the French Broad, Knox Co., TN. He married Eleanor "Nelly" Williams, daughter of John Williams Sr. and Eleanor Hite, on 14 Sep 1797 at Blount Co., TN; listed in Tennessee Marriages to 1825 found at Ancestry.com. He purchased in Blount Co., TN, in 1801 and Eleanor owned 150 acres in Capt. Bogle's Militia District. He began military service in 1805 at Sander's Fork Militia District, Wilson Co., TN, was in Capt. Leech's Militia company. He purchased land in Sander's Fork Militia District, Wilson Co., TN, in 1805 is listed as owning 100 acres in Sander's Fork through 1807.
