Athens, AL - Buford A. Romine, 80, West Market Street, Athens, died Monday at a local hospital.


The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at the Central Church of Christ with Byron Davis and Mike Davis officiating. Burial was to be in the Athens City Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home directing.


Mr. Romine was a veteran of World War II, host of a sick call program on radio station WJMW for 28 years, served on the Athens City Council from 1964 to 1968 and was retired from Spry Funeral Home.


Survivors include his wife, Mary Holland Romine; a daughter, Jill Romine Hudson of Athens; a sister, Doris Phillips of Brooksville, FL; and four grandchildren.


*His middle name is included on the WWII Military Form.
