Funeral services for Mrs. Della M. Jensen, a former Chilton resident who died Thursday, July 21, were Monday at the Wieting Funeral Home, Chilton. Mrs. Jensen had resided at the Villa Loretta Nursing Home.

The Rev. Queintin Moeschberger, pastor of Ebenezer United Church of Christ officiated. Burial was in the Hillside cemetery, Chilton.

The former Della McCarty, she was born in Kingsbridge, Manitowoc County, the daughter of Robert and Minerva Marquart McCarty. On Sept. 12, 1916 she was married to Gerhard B. Jensen at Chilton. He died on March 28, 1956.

Mrs. Jensen was employed at a hatmaker and worked at the Anna Parman Dress shop at Chilton and the Courtice Department Store at Chilton. Mrs. Jensen served as the first woman sheriff in Wisconsin for Calumet County.

She was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ, a past president of its Woman’s Guild, a past president of the Chilton Woman’s Club, and past president of the Chilton American Legion Post Auxiliary. For 25 years she served as secretary of the Chilton German Ladies Aid Society.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. William (Gladys) Jones of Charlestown Heights, S.C.; four grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
