McAlester — Ninette J. Bryan entered her heavenly life on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008.

She was born Nov. 22, 1922, in Southampton, England, where she was educated in an English girls' school. She met her husband, Clifton E. Bryan, in Nottingham, England, while she served in the British Royal Air Force during WWII.
They were married Feb. 16, 1945, and she was the first English bride to come to Ponca City.

Nina resided with her family in McAlester, OK, for 40 years where she was active in the community and business. Nina and her husband owned and operated Clif Bryan Furniture and Appliances, and later the McAlester Motor Inn. She was one of the founders of the McAlester Girls' Club and was involved with Girls Scouts and other community service.

In later years, Nina and Clif were dedicated to promoting the Gospel of Jesus Christ, ministering locally and abroad. Nina was a gifted Bible teacher and enjoyed sharing her knowledge with others. She was a member of Grace Church in Broken Arrow. Nina's number one mission in life was serving and supporting her family with her whole heart. Her many friends and family will miss her charming wit and compassion for others. She could light up a room with her beautiful smile and unique English accent.

Nina was preceeded in death by her husband Clifton Bryan of 50 years; Bryan Cooper, grandchild; and Dan Tisdal, son-in-law. Nina is survived by her four girls, Marilynne Tisdal of Tulsa; Louise and Bill Richards of Broken Arrow; Jeannie and Johnny Douglas of Shawnee and Barbara and Sam Pettigrew of Tuttle; seven grandchildren, Nia and David Parsons, Cindy and Jason Dennis, Amber Triplett, Denny and Alonna Triplett, Samuel Pettigrew, Paige Pettigrew and Bryan Cooper (deceased); 9 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 pm today at Floral Haven Funeral. Funeral service will be in the chapel at 12:30 pm Saturday. Burial will be at Marshall Cemetery, Marshall, following the service.
