Charles DeGraff, 81, 501 W. Capitol, died Nov. 19 in a Salt Lake hospital of natural causes.

Born Dec. 28, 1884, Salt Lake City. Adopted by Henrik Gerardus and Cornelia Backhold DeGraff.

Married Nellie Clyde, June 10, 1908 in Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died 1958. Married Zelma McNaughton, June, 1959, Salt Lake LDS Tample.

Former Wasastch High School. Heber City school teacher. Ordained officiator, Salt Lake LDS Temple. Recipient 35-year service pin, Silver Beaver award in scouting, Scout camp handicraft drictor.

Survivors: widow, Salt Lake City; sons, daughter, Dale C., Jay W., both of Sunnyvale, Calif.; Charles Clyde, Pasco, Wash.; Mrs. Helen Ossmem, Las Vegas; Mrs. Jess (Elaine) Walker, Pleasant Grove; 17 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Tuesday 1 p.m., Capitol Hill LDS Ward chapel, 413 W. Capitol. Friends call 260 E. S. Temple, Monday, 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Note: Charles was born to Levi Evans Riter (son of Michael Riter and Elizabeth Neide) and Anna Catherina Backhold. She died when Charles was 4-5 months old. In the interim Anna had married Carl Christian Anderson. Carl could not take care of him so her sister, Cornelia Anna Backhold and her husband, Henrik Gerardus DeGraff adopted him.
