Bertha C. Adkins, 85, of Mansfield, died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at
MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born November 23, 1922 in Wise County, Virginia,
she was the daughter of the late John and Ellen Brewer Campbell.
She is survived by ten children, Velma Bowling of Mansfield, Jimmie Elizabeth
Adkins of Virginia, David Linda Adkins of Mansfield, Wilma Jack Barton of
Virginia, Mary Rhodes of Mansfield, Carolyn Cline Ratliff of Mt. Sterling,
Kentucky, Linda Sue Mike Valerio of Bellville, Freda Jenkins of Virginia, and
Larry Adkins of Mt. Vernon, and Ruth Friend of Mansfield; one adopted daughter,
Lisa Collins of Georgia; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and
great-great-grandchildren; sister, Alma Gabbard of Cincinnati; and numerous
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel J. Adkins
on April 19, 1997; two brothers; and four sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2008 at
Mansfield Memorial Park. Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at
the Ontario Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S.
Lexington-Springmill Rd., Mansfield, Ohio 44906.
