She was born May 11, 1935, in the town of Chautauqua, the daughter of the late Clifford E. and Margaret Kieffer Latta. She is survived by her husband, Charles C. Carter, whom she married Aug. 3, 1953, in Chautauqua; a son, Robert G. Carter of Marathon Keys, Fla.; six grandchildren: a great-granddaughter, two sisters: Joanne Briggs of Mayville and Betty Brown of Greenhurst; and two brothers: Clifford E. Jr. and Kenneth C. Latta, both of Mayville.
Besides her father who died in 1992, and her mother who died in 1983, she was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin E. Latta Sr., who died Jan. 9, 2001.
She is the grandmother of Nick Carter, singer of the boy band, Backstreet Boys.
