Funeral services for Mr. James Lovis Holloway were conducted Friday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Jimerson Funeral Home with Rev. Don Cocklin of First Christian Church officiating. Interment was in Panola County Restland Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Sam Barr, Charlie Bosher, Curtis Cabaniss, Hull Heaton, Ralph Smith, Ervin White, James Rice, and Jack McIlwain.

Mr. Holloway, 68, of Carthage died Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 17, in Panola General Hospital.

The son of James Dudley and Evie Lena Baker Holloway, he was born Feb. 27, 1916 in Huber, Texas. He had been a resident of Carthage since 1950, moving from Nacogdoches. He was retired from United Gas Pipe Line Company where he was a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Holloway was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II, was a board member of American Association of Retired Persons, and a member of First Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Viola Holloway of Carthage; one son, James L. Holloway, Jr., of Lahoma, Okla.; two daughters, Marie Born of Carthage and Jean Short of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Travis Holloway of Lafayette, La. and J.D. Holloway of Columbus, Miss.; three sisters, Zeeland Dewberry of Dallas, Minnie Choran of Center, and Fern Whitworth of Albuquerque, N.M.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
