Brice M. Bainum

ARLINGTON - Brice M. Bainum, 87, formerly of Arlington, died April 1, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.

He was born March 18, 1913, at Hutchinson, the son of Charles Albert and Margaret Ellen Quigley Bainum. He was a 1933 graduate of Arlington High School. A longtime Arlington resident, moving to South Hutchinson in 1995, he was a farmer near Arlington and was a bus driver in Arlington for 13 years before becoming an equipment operator for the Kansas Highway Department, retiring in 1975.

He belonged to Arlington United Methodist Church.

On Aug. 24, 1941, he married Betty Ann Burgess at Fairview United Methodist Church. She died July 20, 1984.

Survivors include: four sons, Jerry, Centralia, David, Topeka, Rex, Hutchinson, and Dale, Celina, Texas; two daughters, Janet Southards, Valley Center, and Retha Pearce, Burrton; a sister, Alberta Birchard, Sumner, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Arlington United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Elaine K. Lord presiding. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association or the church, both in care of the mortuary.
