Born August 9, 1900 to Hilda and Thomas Rowberry. After the passing of her mother, she was raised by her aunt, Hannah Gillespie. Married C.R. (Gus) Russell on June 19, 1918 in the Salt Lake Temple. He passed away in 1969.
She was active in the retail business for 42 years. She was an active member of the LDS Church and held many positions, including: Relief Society president and teacher, Sunday School secretary, and North Tooele Stake Relief Society secretary. She also served a stake mission with her husband.
Former member of the Chamber of Commerce and Retailers Committee, past president of Business and Professional Women's Club, past president and state officer of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was the first sponsor of Beta Sigma Phi in Tooele and a charter member. She also held membership in the Lady Lions and Lady Elks. She was selected as ''Woman of the Year'' by the Business and Professional Women's Club and she was selected as ''Woman of the Year'' by the Beta Sigma Phi Soriety.
Survived by her daughter, Elaine Wassom, and son-in-aw, Robert Wassom, Tooele; four grandchildren, Terri Ann Harker, Robert Wasson, Jr., Michelle Hales, and Steven R. Wassom; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Also survived by sister, Ruby Neiheisel; stepsisters, Valene Hansen and Elma Call; and sister-in-law, Louise Fitzwater.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 1990 at 1 p.m. at the Tooele 5th Ward Chapel, 196 North Pinehurst. Viewing at the Tate Mortuary on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m.
Interment: Tooele City Cemetery.
