Hollis Windham
Hollis Windham, 73, of 906 Preston St. in Burkburnett died Saturday in a Wichita Falls hospital. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home with Ross Saunders, minister of Floral Heights Church of Christ, officiating. Graveside services will be at 5 p.m. Monday in Tecumseh Cemetery, 20 miles south of Abilene, Texas.
Mr. Windham was born March 3, 1920, in Callahan County, Texas. He served in the Army. He was a paratrooper. He was wounded in World War II and received the Purple Heart and the Victory Medal. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He served as an elder at Woodlawn Hills Church of Christ in San Antonio. He had served as a Church of Christ minister at Bailey, Texas; Bonham, Texas; York, Ala.; Ranger, Texas; Crockett, Texas; Harlingen, Texas; Vernon, Texas; and San Antonio. He retired after 40 years of service as a preacher. Retiring in Burkburnett in 1981, he preached occasionially in Wichita Falls. He and Ila Bell Coffman were married June 12, 1947.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Elaine Stephens of Burkburnett; a son, David Hollis of Denton, Texas; a brother, Todd of Abilene, Texas; two sisters, Lois Burror and Dorace Rose, both of Abilene, Texas and a granddaugter.
