Jack L. Gooding Sr., 75, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Springfield, IL, died at 9:30 p.m. Friday at Blake Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 1, 1914, in Calgary, Alberta, the son of William T. and Lillie Lloyd Gooding Sr. He married Velma M. Steele in 1938 in Perry, Iowa.

Before his retirement in 1977, he was employed by F.W. Means & Co. for 35 years.

Surviving are his wife, Velma M.; three sons, Jack L. of Springfield, Thomas S. of Dear Creek and Garry L. of Salinas, Calif.; one brother, William T. Jr. of Punta Gorda, Fla.; one sister, Charlotte G. Strong of Bradenton; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at Ellinger-Kunz and Davis Funeral Home, the Rev. Charles Lee officiating. Cremation will follow.
