Clifford (Bus) Spencer passed away on October 28, 2008 at Mountain View Hospital in Payson, Utah of causes incident to age. He resided at 322 East 300 South in Payson, Utah at the time of his death.


Bus was born in Birdseye, Utah on November 16, 1913 to Hyrum Elmer and Emma Oberhansly Spencer. He married Lucile Mae Houser on April 26, 1941. They were sealed in the Manti Temple on June 29, 1963.


He worked with his brothers as a carpenter constructing the Geneva Steel facility. He later worked at Geneva for 33 years and recently witnessed the tear-down of the steel plant. He was a member of the Steelworkers Union Local 2701.


Bus loved to travel and vacation with his beloved wife Mae and their family. They made annual trips to Yellowstone Park and also traveled to many areas including Canada and Hawaii. They passed on their love of the outdoors to their sons with camping, hunting and fishing excursions. He always kept up with current events and was a lifelong Democrat.


Bus was active in the LDS Church. He served in many positions, including first counselor to the Bishop and High Priest group leader. He particularly enjoyed his service with the Boy Scouts, preparing his famous sourdough pancakes at campouts. He loved serving in the Temple with Mae.


After Mae passed away, he enjoyed his association with the Payson Senior Citizens, playing cards, dancing and luncheons. He was an avid BYU and Jazz fan. He was a regular at the Payson City Band concerts.


He is survived by: his four sons, Richard (Connie), Wayne (Barbara), Neil (Becky) and Mark (Jana); 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae and his brothers and sisters Lillian, Gladys, Mary, Maud, Bertram, Willis, Nilda, Dora, Ted, Dean, Enid and Lucy.


Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Mountain View North Chapel located at 681 East 500 North, where friends and family may call on Saturday at the Church from 12-1:45 p.m.
Interment will be held at the Payson City Cemetery.
