Idaho State Journal dated September 13, 1973 reads as follows:
WILLIAM CAHOON
William Roscoe Cahoo, 67, of 150 East Alameda Road, prominent local church and civic leader died Wednesday moring at his home following an apparent heart attack.
He was born April 21, 1906 at Almo to William and Jessie R. Singleton Cahoon.
On Oct.1, 1924, he married Venita Call in the Logan LDS Temple.
When Mr. Cahoon was 18 years old, he moved to Logan where he began working as a carpenter for M.K. Construction Co. In 1925 his work took him to Mesa, Ore. where he worked on the Deadwood Dam and in 1934, he moved to Boise. In 1941 he helped for the Klopher and Cahoon Construction Co. He came to Pocatello in 1951 and the Brennan and Cahoon Construction Co. was organized. This became the W.R. Cahoon Construction Co. in 1951.
Mr. Cahoon helped construct bridges and buildings throughout Southeastern Idaho. In 1945, he built and operated Portneuf Lumber Co., and in 1969 the name was changed to Handy Lumber Co. He established the VenRos Trailer Park in 1970.
Active in the LDS Church, he had served in various positions including as a member of the bishopric in Boise and Pendleton, Ore.; bishop of the Pocatello 14th Ward for eight years, president of the East Pocatello Stake from 1951 until 1965; and building inspector for the Pocatello West Stake.
Survivors include his widow of Pocatello; a son, Gary of Salt Lake City, Utah; two daughters, Kathryn Seaton and Mrs. Val (Geneese) Taylor, both of Pocatello; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers,Ilef of Mountain Home, Alvin of California and Mike of Gooding; and three sisters, Mrs. Albert (Leatha) Moncarr and Ireta Dezuck, both of Boise and Mrs. Clair (LaRene) of Jensen, Calif.
Two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Pocatello East Stake House at 135 South Seventh, with Bishop Neil Castleton of the 29th LDS Ward officiating. Burial will be in Mountainview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Friday at the Manning Funeral Chapel.
