Casper Graves, 56 year old farmer of Sharps Chapel, Union County, died Monday night at 7:30 at the St, Mary's Hospital of gunshot wounds received Sunday night. He was shot at All Stops, a beer garden seven miles north of Maynardville on Highway 33. Oscar Cook, who did the shooting claimed self defense, that Graves was advancing on him with a knife. Cook was placed under a $2000 bond on a felonious assault charge and after Graves died the charge was changed to murder. Constable E. J. Sexton, of Union County arrested Cook on the new charge. Cook, about 25, is the son of "Ma" Cook who operates the beer garden at All Stops. Mr. Graves is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mollie Graves, eight sons, Leslie, Auble, Earl, Clifford, Clyde, Carl, Robert and Buren Graves, all of Union County, except Auble who lives in California; three daughters, Mrs. Edna Graves, Miss. Imogene Graves and Miss. Mildred Graves; five brothers, Henry, William and John Graves of Sharps Chapel, Frank Graves of Mascot and Oscar Graves of Blackwater, Wyo.; five sisters, Mrs. Betie Whited, Mrs. Matilda Ousley, Mrs. Ester Cook, all of Sharps Chapel, Mrs. Katie Keck and Mrs. Belle Keck, both of Goin. The body was brought to the Haynes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at one o'clock at the Graves Cemetery. Burial will be there.
