JAMES MARTIN BROWNING, EWING

James Martin Browning, 83, of 19521 State Highway 14, died at 6:52 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 1997, in the Good Samaritan Regional Health Center, Mt. Vernon.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jesse Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty-Ridlen Cemetery, Macedonia. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Browning was born Nov. 24, 1913, in Rend City, the son of W. E. and Grace (Burns) Browning. He married the former Genevieve Page on Sept. 28, 1935. She survives.

He was a retired farmer and a Deacon at Webbs Prairie Free Will Baptist Church, Ewing.

Survivors include his wife, Genevieve, Ewing; a daughter, Janice and Husband Val Pritchett, Bloomington; a son, Richard and wife Nora Browning, Ewing; five grandchildren,
Steve Browning, Benton, Shelley Romani, Sesser, Susan Browning, Benton, Mark Pritchett, Bloomington, Emily Pritchett, Decatur; one great grandson,Tyler Pritchett,a stepgreat-granddaughter, Jordan Miller, two sisters, Genevieve Odom, Benton and Alma Jane Rippel, Sun City, Ariz.; one brother, Kenneth Browning, Benton.

Mr. Browning was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Vella Barnfield.
