A. Walton Pioneer of Lafayette Dies
Arthur Walton, 65, died at 4 a.m., Sunday at St. Luke's hospital in Denver. Funeral services were held from the Olinger mortuary Tuesday at 1 p.m. and interment in the Lafayette cemetery.
Mr. Walton lived in Denver for the past 15 years. Previously he had been a resident of Lafayette and other parts of northern Colorado.
He was widely known through out the state for his organization of symphonic and military bands. Among them being the Rio Grande Railroad in Denver, Alamosa and Salida, the 40 and Eight Drum corps, the Sons of the Legion Band, the North Denver Civic Band for Children. Mr. Walton taught music at Colorado State College of Education at Greeley from 1934 to 1937. for the past year he has taught music at Clayton College for Boys.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Della Walton and daughters Mrs. Maude Schofield and Mrs. Jean Rudolph of Lafayette and a son Sgt. Jack Walton of Denver.
