Provo, UT - Clarecie Ella Bounds Abbott, age 91, passed away June 14, 2009, in Provo, Utah. She was born October 24, 1917 in Pocatello, Idaho to Clarence Richard and Sophia Lehman Ivie. She was the youngest of two children.

She met her husband when a new family moved into the area where she was living in Fruitvale, Idaho. Clarecie married Alvin D. Bounds on July 3, 1935 and had 6 children - 5 surviving. She was a devoted lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served many years in her Stake Primary and Relief Society callings. Clarecie was always doing for others and had a great influence with her many nieces and nephews and others that frequented their home. Missionaries in the field often thought they had found their second home because of the warm " home-like" feeling there and some later returned to visit after their mission callings. She was devoted to her many family members and serving long hours for those in need.

Al and Clarecie later divorced and she and her mother moved from Oregon to St. George, Utah, where she met Stowell E. Abbott. They were married on April 9, 1975 in the St. George Temple. As their honeymoon, they served a mission in Baton Rouge, LA. Upon their return, they began farming in Moapa, Nevada. They traveled back and forth each week for 11 years to fulfill their temple callings in the St. George Temple. Clarecie's mother continued to live with them until her death in February 1995 at the age of 100. Unfortunately, Stowell's illness caused him to need additional care. He entered Porter's Nursing home where Clarecie made daily trips for five years to make him as comfortable as possible until his passing on February 19, 1998. Clarecie then moved from her home to a near by condo in 2000. As her health deteriorated, her family helped move her to The Seville Assisted Living Home in Orem, Utah in 2006. She spend many hours sewing on humanitarian projects and making many new friends in her new home.

She is preceded in death by her two husbands; sister, Nellie; parents and daughter,Alvana. Clarecie is survived by her sons, Rex (Jeri) Bounds of Ashland, OR., Dennis (Tonna) Bounds of Layton, UT., Dallen (Lynette) Bounds of Olympia, WA.; and daughters, Lee Gettling of Portland, OR. and Melody (Gordon) Olsen of Pleasant Grove, UT.; 19 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 20, 2009, at 10 a.m., at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, UT. A visitation will be held Friday, from 6-8 p.m., and Saturday, 9-9:45 a.m., both at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Logandale Cemetery following the service under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary
