D. Fremont Williams Rites Held Saturday
Funeral services for D. Fremont Williams, 76, of Route 1 Forsyth, who died Friday in the Macon Hospital after a long illness, were held at 2:30pm Sunday in the Maynard Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Lindsey officiated with burial in the church cemetery.
Mr. Williams was a native of Monroe County, the son of the late David G. Williams and the late Leila Estelle Smith Williams. He was a retired night watchman for Tift College and a member of Maynard Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Susie Lunsford Williams, Forsyth; two daughters, Mrs. Lindsey Tingle of Jackson and Mrs. Roscoe Smith of Apalachicola, Florida; four sons, Walter C. Williams, Juliette, Oscar Russell Williams, Fresno, California, Carlton T. Williams, Jackson and Gordon B. Williams, Thomaston; three sisters, Mrs. F. M. Weldon, Sr., Mrs. Sam Anderson, and Mrs. Rudisel Pippin all of Forsyth; six brothers, Thomas, Cullen, Robert and Guy all of Forsyth, Joe Williams of Cartersville and John Williams of Savannah; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The honorary pallbearers were the Rev. Franklin McWhorter, Rev. George Bostwick, Rev. William Glover, Rev. Walter Garrett, Rev. Tom Howard, Rev. Miller Turner, and Rev. Cecil Moore.
