Ina May Payne, 82 years, of Toledo, died Sunday, June 30, 2002, in Foundation Park Care Center in Toledo. The daughter of Burt and Harriet (McConahy) Coates, she was born January 8, 1920, in Norfolk, VA. She married Richard Frew Payne Sr. December 14, 1940, in the 1st Christian Church, New Castle, PA. They celebrated their Golden Anniversary in 1990. She was a school bus driver for Bedford Schools for 5 years and was a Scott High School visiting teacher for several years. Previously she was a store detective for Lion Store, LaSalle's, Lamson's, Tiedtke's and B.R. Baker department stores. Ina was past president of the Women's Christian Temperance Union of New Castle, PA. She was a long time active member of Flanders Road Church of Christ and Echo Meadows Church of Christ. She always made time to pick up the fallen.
Ina is survived by her loving husband of almost 62 years, Richard; children, Richard Frew (Kay) Payne Jr., Pamela J. Rimmer, Holly A. Adams; sister, Lenora Groves; brother, E. Ray Coates; 8 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Ina was preceded in death by a brother, Burt G. Coates Jr.
