It is believed that John Pressley or "Uncle Press" was the oldest child of William "Buck" Baker and Lucretia George Baker. The family lived in Tennessee, then De Soto County, Mississippi, before migrating to Davidson Township, Randolph County, Arkansas in the 1850s. The large Baker clan all lived in what would become known as the Bakerden community, north of the Eleven Point River where it passes by Dalton. They lived from Dalton all the way to the Ripley County, Missouri state line and over to Warm Springs. There are at least 8 children documented as belonging to William and Lucretia: John Pressley, German, Wm Harve, Jesse, Mary Jane, Nancy Ann, George W., and Joel.
