"RUTH MacLEOD
"Ruth MacLeod, 86, of Fresno, a Kings County native, died Feb. 22 in a Fresno hospital.
"Born in Hanford in 1903 to Will and Myrtle Pickerill, she was a member of the Hanford High School graduating class of 1922. Raised in the First Christian Church of Hanford, in her later years Mrs. MacLeod was an active member of the Belmont Christian Church of Fresno.
"A prolific fiction writer, her published works include 17 novels and a multitude of short stories.
"She is survived by a son, William Derby of Hanford; two daughters, Lora Johnston of Tacoma, Wash., and Marilyn Lane of Livermore; a sister, Esther Shelley of Fresno; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
"A memorial service will be conducted at a later date at the Belmont Christian Church in Fresno. Her ashes will be placed in Hanford Cemetery."
