Obituary for John E. Anderson -Unknown Date and Newspaper

John Emil Anderson was born August 14, 1903 to Anna Swanson Anderson and Anton Anderson on a farm three miles east of Osceola. He was baptized on March 17,1904 and confirmed November 24, 1918 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Osceola where he was a life long member. John received his education in District 40 and graduated from Osceola High School in 1922.

He farmed on the home place east of Osceola with his two brothers, Albert and Wilmer, for a few years. He also worked in the Norfolk Wholesale for some years. He served in the armed forces and World War II, receiving an honorable discharge.

John married Hazel Johnson on May 6, 1956. They had 14 years of happy married life together. He spent the greater part of his life in Polk County, working as a meat cutter in the Economy Food Market in Stromsburg with his brother, Wilmer, until his retirement. John had a deep interest in whatever task he undertook and was a diligent worker. He took and active part in church activities having a deep love for his church. One of his comments was that he kept a lamp dimmed and was ready for his lord's coming. John was patient, never complaining and a loving brother.

He passed away January 15, 1982 at the Good Samaritan Home. He leaves to mourn his passing one sister, Mary Gerdes at the Covenant Home in Stromsburg, one brother Wilmer, sister-in-law, Vivian Anderson, all of Stromsburg, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, four brothers, three sisters, four sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law and two infant brothers.

Services were held January 18 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Osceola with Pastor Paul Reimers. Louise Wheeler, organist, accompanied Wesley Peterson, soloist. Pallbearers were Kenneth Peterson, Vernon Peterson, Stanley Oquist, M.E. Anderson, Marvin Waden and Dale Anderson. Interment was in the Stromsburg Cemetery.
