Albert J. Oberle, 38, veteran of World War II, died Saturday night in the Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

Mr. Oberle lived at 501 Blue Rock Road, Gordon Heights. He served with the Navy Seabees in the South Pacific in World War II.

For the past 20 years, both before and after his war service, he has worked as a machinist for the Phoenix Steel Corp. in Claymont and its predecessors.

Born in Holly Oak, he had been a resident of this area all his life. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Audrey Smart Oberle; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert J. Oberle of Claymont; three brothers, Vincent H. Oberle of Woodside Manor, William A. Oberle of Holiday Hills and Raymond Oberle of Silverside Heights; two step-daughters, Mrs. Barbara Smart Brown of New Castle and Mrs. Sandra Smart Krett of Dover; a grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, Twenty-fourth and Market Streets. The Rev. John W. Harris of Calvary Episcopal Church, Hillcrest, will officiate. Internment also will be private. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow night.
