DANSVILLE - Lyle G. Burger, 72, of Elizabeth St., Dansville passed away Friday afternoon June 21, 2002 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.
Mr. Burger was born in Hornell on June 24, 1929, a son of the late Carl L. and Adelia Bentley Burger. He was a welder at Foster Wheeler Energy Corp. in Dansville for 40 years, retiring in 1992.
Lyle was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1951 to 1952 in the Construction Engineer Battalion. He was a Life Member of Dansville's Daniel Goho Post #87 of The American Legion, where he was active in the firing squad. He also was a Life Member of Frank J. Casbolt Post #6780 of the VFW in Dansville.
Lyle is survived by two sisters, Corinne (Ross) Glover and Doris (Larry) Smalt, both of Dansville; a brother, Wilbur (Anita) Burger of South Dansville; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends called Saturday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hindle Funeral Home, 271 Main St., Dansville, where services were held Monday at 1 p.m. Interment with full military honors was in Rogersville Forest Lawn Cemetery, South Dansville. An American Legion prayer service was held Sunday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
