He was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church. Preceded in death by father, Raymond Atkins; mother, Pairlee Atkins Daniels; brothers, Newell Atkins, Ronald Daniels, Donald Daniels, and Hobby Daniels. Survivors: Loving wife of 52 years, Hester Wyrick Atkins of Luttrell; brother, J. T. Atkins of Maynardville; sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Becky Atkins of Maynardville, Ronnie and Vicki Atkins of Luttrell; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Atkins Curl and Emmet Curl of Raleigh, N.C., Janet Atkins Holloway of Luttrell; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services 8 p.m. Sunday, Cooke Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Leonard Goins and Rev. Greg Sharp officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Monday, Pleasant View Cemetery. Pallbearers: Clayton Helms, Robert (Smokey) Fultz, F. T. Munsey, Curly Bates, Buck Hall, and Elmer Tallent. Honorary Pallbearers will be nephews. The family will be at the home of Janet Holloway, 529 Bull Run Road. Cooke Mortuary, Maynardville, in charge.
