Born June 6th, 1884 in Marshalltown he was the son of William L. Carkhuff and Nellie ( Priest) Carkhuff. He recived his education and grew to manhood in this city.
On June 6,th 1910 in Albert Lea Min. he was married to lillie Shively and the couple always made there home in Marshalltown and Marshall County. Mrs Carkhuff preceded him in death on May 29th, 1949. Mr Carkhuff attened the Iowa River church.
Also preceding him in death were three childern and four sisters, and a brother.
Surviving are eight daughters and five sons, Inze (Herbert) jennings, Garwin, Lillian (L.V.)Kent, Wanda (Herbert) Wilson, Margie (Raymond) Owen, Harley Jr. and Jack (Hellen) Carkhuff all of Marshalltown. Ruby (Vaughn) Sears, Route 5, William (Betty) Carkhuff of Montour, Betty (James) Maddox, Dorothy(Rayond) Aderson and Landie all of Spokane Wash. Joy (Leonard) Yeilk in Cuba and Bernard in the U.S. Army.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildern, 13 great-grandchildern, two sister's Mrs Landie Gasson and Mrs. Floyd Sparks, both of St. Anthony and a number of nieces and nephews.
Servieces were held from the Estal- Perrin Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in charge of the Rev. Rayond Kettell, pastor of the Carleton Berthren.
